This page explains how the major concepts in Cerebel relate to one another.

Cerebel
Section titled “Cerebel”Cerebel is the name of the project.
Operationally, a Cerebel is a working Cerebrum plus the supporting code required to launch, run, and integrate it in a real system.
At a high level, a Cerebel behaves as a domain specialist.
Cerebrum
Section titled “Cerebrum”The Cerebrum is the core intelligence substrate within a Cerebel.
It contains the structures needed for the system to be taught and to exhibit neuroplasticity over time.
Thalamus
Section titled “Thalamus”The Thalamus coordinates message flow between Cortices.
It is responsible for enabling coherent routing and exchange across specialized capabilities.
Cortices
Section titled “Cortices”A Cortex can be thought of as a specialized harness for a domain of behavior and understanding.
Each Cortex is oriented toward expert behavior in a specific responsibility area.
Prefrontal Cortex
Section titled “Prefrontal Cortex”The Prefrontal Cortex is currently a required Cortex in the Cerebrum.
It is responsible for a significant share of reasoning, orchestration, and processing across incoming inputs and other Cortices.
CommunicationCortex
Section titled “CommunicationCortex”The CommunicationCortex is currently a required Cortex in the Cerebrum.
Different CommunicationCortices can exist based on integration context, interface type, and the external system where the Cerebel is embedded.
